  • Why 5 stars? Because really, what could I complain about? --- --- --- I moved to Florida in 2007 and was so excited to be able to attend Cleveland Indians spring training games every year! And then they moved to Arizona after the 2008 season. Thanks a lot, Goodyear. I was in the Phoenix area for about a day and a half a few years ago and made the trek out to Goodyear just to see the park and was able to walk all throughout it because there was some kind of kids event going on. I was glad to see that it's utilized outside of baseball season. But I've been determined to cross it off my bucket list to see a game here, ever since. And I finally got that chance this year. Tickets were laughably easy and awesome. Despite only casually making these plans and buying my ticket about a month before the game, I was able to secure 2nd row seats behind the plate for $35.05 after taxes/fees. $35 to be close enough to the umpire that I could spit on him. Not that I would... it is spring training after all. Parking was ample and only $5, which was nice. I was kind of worried that my cheap seat would be offset by some kind of outrageous parking fee. One random observation: the girls taking parking money wore Yankees and Red Sox hats to a game between the Reds and the Indians. Weird? Yes. The park itself doesn't differ from other spring training or minor league parks I've been to - intimate with no bad seat in the house. But Goodyear is new and seems like it will feel "new" for many years to come. The concessions are mostly pretty uninspiring, but there was a Mister Softee ice cream truck out near left field and I took full advantage of that. I suppose the only renovation that could be needed here is an upgrade to the video board, which is barely large enough to even be noticed. Then again, is it really worth the investment when they only play games here for a few weeks every year? Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and hope to return in years to come!
