  • Oh Calgary, you are a fun city to visit. Not just because you have a nice busy downtown with all the usual trappings. Construction, traffic, homeless people, smelly side streets, etc. but because you also have an eclectic mix of funky cool places to eat, hipster pubs where dudes have overly extravagant mustaches, and women have funky colored spiked/shaved hair. Because you also have a warm feeling about you, a pleasant air of niceness, warmth, and welcome. It may be because you have one of the best zoos I've ever visited. (Largely due to the Jurassic exhibit) Maybe because of you have nice commuter train service that takes you (almost) to anywhere you want to go while around downtown. It might be because you have an awesome river and accompanying river-walk, amazing architecture, and neighborhoods. It's probably that you have a funky art district, hipster district, business district, a shopping district, and just about any other off-shoot I have not thought of, easily found and walked around. Or maybe it's that you're in the middle of no where surrounded by long plains and hills, but close enough to places like Banff that I can drive there in 90 minutes and not feel like I had to work for it. Maybe it's that you just get me and are always happy when I return. Yea...thats it.
