| - Ok, first time here after hearing good reviews and drove 50 minutes from north of the PIT airport. Showed up as a party of two and was asked if we could be seated upstairs, plenty of room downstairs so not sure what that was all about. But there is a huge decor difference between the two levels, downstairs is decent bar atmosphere while upstairs is very undesirable and outdated to say the least.
Nice beer selection so I was happy to try something new with dinner and was very pleased. We got the breadstick and meatball appetizer, I was very happy with the choice and I must say at first I was nervous. Only because the bottom of the breadsticks were burnt but they tasted fine. Meatballs tasted homemade, were very soft, and the sauce complimented the dish very well. Bado's sauce is very good, not sweet or bitter, not overly seasoned with spices, perfectly balanced which is hard to find. I was impressed! Now onto our dinner choices, my wife got a small pepperoni calzone which for her was her go to choice no matter where we go. She was happy with the calzone and even made the comment that she wished she would have gotten the large. I chose the large Buffalo chicken calzone and ended up taking half of it home which I intended to do. So here is where I get picky, while I loved the taste and texture of Baldo's dough the middle of the calzone was extra thick with dough. Making it chewy, the cheese wasn't melted but the calzone clearly looked cooked on the outside with two dark spots (which I love). Overall flavor was good, the chicken and buffalo sauce worked well together. So I have given 3 stars considering the total experience and my wife and I both agreed to come back and try the pizza.
