  • This is an updated review for me. Lately, I have found the experience at Akaihana to be inconsistent. Sometimes it's great, other times, it's poor. In general, service is better at the bar (and you still may wait there awhile, too). --All too often one must flag down a waitress or waiter for things from the kitchen. Of late, the wait staff don't look towards the diners ---you really have to wave and call out. If you just wave, they will walk past you. -- Sushi/sashimi presentation varies per chef. The younger male chef is consistently more careful and artful with his creations. The older male chef can be careless at times --creating messy and disappointing dishes. Sometimes the same sauces seem to taste better than at other times. I had a poorer "taste" experience on the weekend compared to during the week. Maybe I got the dregs of the sauce --when workers were too busy to make a fresh batch... All in all, I'm ready to explore new options.
