If I could put enough stars to have this business shut down, I would do it.
I know my watches and I do my research. I recently got into chronograph aviator watches and decided to get a cheap one to play around with (it would be blasphemy to "play around" with a Breitling). Seeing that I like the classic look of watch on black leather band, I went to both their retail locations on Spadina - one run by a man and the other by a woman. I am assuming they are somehow in cahoots together.
I was quoted one price by one and a higher by another. It was also ridiculous how they were quoting me something more than what it was worth. i.e. $50 for a leather band worth around $5. Not to mention, the second woman was extremely unpleasant. She had the audacity to tell me that some of the leather I was looking at was Bulova material. Now, in the watch world when Bulova is the standard to measure quality, I will be a monkey's uncle. Basically, she told me that the leather band I was looking at is no good - it just sounds fancy to some poor, naive consumer.
Condescending, unpleasant, stubborn, and insulted my intelligence.
I walked down the street to 302 Spadina and got what I wanted for $10 for something better and he even helped take out some links on the metal band. Look for the store with DVDs and a small watch section to the right of the store.
