| - I feel silly for not shopping at this place before! I've been shopping there for a few months now.
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, and have a few stomach issues as well. My body is a train wreck. So, with Hashi's I'm not supposed to eat much soy. WELP. Better said then done. Have any of you looked at food labels lately? SOY. SOY EVERYWHERE. Even TUNA has soy in it. Cause you know, when I think of tuna, I think of soy. This made it EXTREMELY hard to shop for groceries.
Enter Sprouts. I go to a yoga studio nearby and also go to total wine, which is directly to the left of it, so I figured, "This place is supposed to be organic-ish, might as well try it." The prices are a little higher then most commercial grocery stores, but that's okay. I expected as much. This particular store is well kept. It's always very clean when I enter and never smells, like some stores do. E.i: Walmart, or certain Smiths.
Upon looking at labels, I realized just how awesome they are. While there is soy in a some things, a great deal of products in the store didn't have soy in them. YAY! I had found my anti-soy haven. A lot of the products live by the "less is more" rule, and when it comes to food, the less ingredients, the better! They also don't have a card that you have to carry around. I'm so sick of those. Honestly. I have like 5 of them on my keychain and they are an eye sore. Ew. Gross.
Weekly deals rotate, so it's good to keep an eye on them, and they have an app for coupons. What I eat greatly depends on what is on sale for that week. :p
On top of the great selection of organic/natural/soy free foods, they have an essential oil section. I about died of happiness when I found this out....and then spent a good 10 minutes looking at it. Needless to say, I ended up getting my diffuser there, as long as a huge bottle of peppermint. Yep. That happened.
The cashiers I've gotten all have been super friendly and chatty. But chatty in a good way, not chatty in a super annoying way. I'm thankful for that. They actually seem to like life, unlike some other places.
The only bad experience that I've had with them, is one time I got some pre-packaged mushrooms. After opening them the next day, they were bad. Boo. Luckily, mushrooms aren't that expensive. I now get them in bulk from Sprouts instead. No biggie.
I like to think of Sprouds as a "Poor Mans Whole Foods." :)
