  • This review is long overdue, but better late than never. Despite arriving last minute without reservations and with about a hour left before closing (restaurant was empty and was getting a mop-down), our server was super friendly and didn't make us feel rushed at all. He took the time to ask us questions as to what Peruvian dishes I've had in the past and made recommendations of his favorite dishes. Our food arrived pretty quickly, giving us ample time to drink, eat and talk story without feeling rushed. LOMO SALTADO ($15.95): http://bit.ly/2z4NEzY Generous cuts of tender sirloin, onions and tomatoes stir-fried with soy sauce, red wine vinegar and cumin. Not only was it served over crispy fries, steamed white rice was also included. This is my usual go-to dish and Mi Peru didn't disappoint. TALLERINES VERDES CON CARNE ($15.95): http://bit.ly/2zkYBOB The steak is marinated in the same soy-based sauce used for the Lomo Saltado dish. Juicy and cooked to a perfect med rare. The pasta is not your usual pesto. Aside from the usual basil and parmesan, I also tasted spinach and red onions (or shallots). The luscious pesto sauce (tasted like milk or cream was used) coated the al dente pasta evenly, not overdressed, just the perfect amount. PERUVIAN FRIED CHICKEN (2 pc for $10.95, 4 pc for $14.95): Ordered the 2-pc and got a huge leg quarter along with crispy french fries. http://bit.ly/2hpOcGO The marinade could've used more salt or soy sauce but you could definitely taste the cumin and paprika. There were some crispy edges but overall it seemed more like a roasted chicken dish rather than fried, still tasty though. Absent was the zesty cilantro sauce that usually accompanies this chicken dish. ARROZ CON MARISCOS ($17.95): http://bit.ly/2xDteui The menu listed it as a "Peruvian Paella" with octopus, calamari and oysters but I guess they were all out of some ingredients because ours just came with shrimp, calamari and 2 mussels. It was basically fried rice with seafood, just fluffy rice, absent of that creamy paella finished with a flavorful socorrat crust on the bottom. Not bad, but nothing spectacular either. CHICHARRON DE CALAMARES ($14.95): http://bit.ly/2z5Itjk You all know I can't resist ordering fried calamari if it's on the menu! These were well seasoned and the thin coating of batter gave it a fantastic crunch. Lots of crispy tentacles (my fav part) to go around. Served with fries and a fresh onion salad. So glad my Henderson friends introduced me to one of their favorite eats while I was in town, great friendly service and the food is delicious!
