After hearing/reading that Federal had one of the better pies in town, we decided to give it a try for lunch when we were in that area this past Sunday. They did a really nice job with the layout and décor, an all around inviting atmosphere. We ate light and shared the seasonal salad and their margarita pizza adding roasted garlic and prosciutto. The salad was a nice mix of greens and other veggies with goat cheese and avocado, everything very crisp & fresh, a nice size for one person, but we managed to make it do for two. The pizza was wonderfully tasty with large slices of ripe beefsteak-like tomatoes that tasted like they came right out an east coast garden, and the prosciutto added just the right amount of salt and meat to make it virtually perfect. It might have been able to stay in the oven another minute, but I'm NOT complaining! The crust was almost perfectly crisp, and I could have licked the olive oil off the pan for dessert! We're now fans and will be back again.
