Although you may come in here and see 10-cent ties and Made-in-China kitsch, look closer and you'll see something special. Compared to Forever 21/H&M/Zara, Honest Ed's is always neater, and this is because of the incredible staff who are fiercely proud of their jobs. Some of them have been there for so long that they probably served your parents decades ago! Walk around the maze of the east and west buildings, through the tunnel and the bridge, and you'll see what immense employee dedication looks like. With only a few weeks left in their jobs, it's really touching to see how connected they are to this place. Many of them don't even know what they're going to do next. Some are near retiring age, but they're not ready to put their feet up yet. The Annex will lose some of its best people when Honest Ed's goes under.
For the people who can't wait to see what glossy apartment building is going to be built on top of this "eyesore," I wish you'd come inside and see what you're missing.
Honest Ed's is open until Dec. 31st-- come in before it's too late!
