| - Okay one month! I was feeling just a bit more tenderness near one of the implants than the others so I scheduled an appointment and rode the bike to Vegas for a quick checkup to make sure things were good. I was taken in reasonably close to my appointment time and Amanda (who did my initial consult) went to work. Dr. Karami came in and looked things over and saw no problems but just out of precaution they removed my lower teeth and took an x-ray. Dr. Golpa stopped in as well and confirmed it was just healing and there were no problems. Nobody was upset that I "wasted their time" and everything took about an hour.
They all told me that I was doing a fantastic job of keeping things clean so this will help me answer a few questions I've received and to address the level of care and maintenance this requires. I waterpik after each meal at home, it's very fast... just a minute or two. I just wait until I have to use the bathroom and do it after washing up. Not even an issue. The flossing I usually do twice a day. After getting coordinated it's really quick and easy and it's now just part of the waking up or going to bed routine that we all have. I used to have to pull my partials out, drop them in efferdent, then glue them back in each morning. Honestly this takes about the same amount of time and is about a million times less embarrassing. So if I'm doing a good job, I will continue to do so and I want to let you know that it's not a big deal at all, you just have to do it.
As your gums heal and shrink from the swelling the gap under the bridge is larger in spots, they tell you this and it's to be expected. Not everything or everyplace swells the same so just know it's part of it. After 4-6 months you go back and when you are all healed they reline them to fit perfect. During this time perhaps a bit more saliva or air gets through in spots. Again, REALLY minor stuff, I never even think about it so suck it up buttercup! If you're one of those people that live to find the one thing to whine about while forgetting the 99 good things then I just don't know what will make you happy.
Eating is 95% back to normal after a month. In fact it's better than "normal" for me because I was down to one spot to chew with with my partials, I now have a set of teeth. Hey, the good Lord designed 'em pretty well, you bite with the front, chop with the middle, and chew in the back, then swallow. Pretty neat design eh? Over the years we with bad teeth learn to make do, no longer will you have to do that, you'll eat normal again!
I was thinking of buying a new truck this year, it was that or teeth. So GLAD I made this choice because three years from now I'd have a three year old truck and bad teeth. I'll drive what I have and three years from now or sooner I'll buy a new truck and have perfect teeth. Think about it folks, YOU are worth it. You will not find a better guy to fix your jacked up teeth than Dr. Golpa.
Please feel free to write or get my number and call me. That's why we do this, to help each other out and I'm more than willing to take the time and talk to you about it.
