  • After the craziness of the rock n roll las vegas 5k, my friend suggested Cleo in the SLS, which was just across from the race course. We made reservations prior and were seated after checking in. Ambiance was nice, a sense of adventure with books and globes stacked along the ceiling walls. Feels as if we were exploring an old mysterious passageway in Egypt and a booby trap can be activated at any time... Food was amazing, strong flavors and characteristics: - hummus with bread: bread was warm, soft, and delicious. came in a paper bag, which was very clever and fun. -burrata and heirloom tomatoes: so simple yet so tasty. tomatoes were perfectly riped and sweet with the creaminess of the burrata. topped with arugula for some bittiness. -chicken kabob: super moist and tender chicken breast on a metal skewer -mushroom: very earthy and a tad sweet with great textures. the mushrooms were meaty and delicious. the pop came from the rice puffs and chopped hazelnuts. -scallops: packed with flavors for such a simple scallop. scallops were not overcooked. sat on a bed of red pepper paste and topped with frisee salad and capers. -roasted lamb with couscous and yogurt: the least favorite dish of the night, but was still decent. lamb was a bit bland and not as tender as I expected. It was a bit too dry, since there was no sauce on it. the thick yogurt on the bottom did not help with the moisture but gave it a creamy tart flavor. couscous was pretty bland. -sticky toffee pudding with walnut brittle: soft cake with crunchy brittle, creamy vanilla ice cream, and side of caramel sauce. good way to end the meal. service lacked some smiles and comfort, but with good company and food, I can brush that aside. overall great food, ambiance and company. definitely worth a trek away from the main strip of las vegas to the SLS for cleo.
