This was my first experience with this type of food and we went for my sister-in-law's 30th birthday. We ordered the lemon broth with shabu shabu beef, beef tongue (pretty good!), and a variety of vegetables and noodles. I like spicy, but there is something about different forms of spicy that can throw me off if that makes any sense. The broth was a little too spicy to be enjoyable as a soup for me, but cooking items in it was fine. My wife on the other hand thought the broth (and other items) as a soup was great.
The ambiance of this place was modern and nice. It wasn't very noisy because there weren't many people there (even though it was Saturday night.... hope they can stay in business!). The service was good - they seem to share tables here and multiple people helped us throughout the two hours or so we were there. Prices were also very reasonable in our opinion.
Based on the reviews, hot pot is not for everyone and this establishment could definitely act more consultative when helping people determine what broth to choose. However, I think this was a fun, tasty experience and I will definitely try this style of food again.
