Should be called the Arizona Average. There's absolutely nothing Grand about this hotel. What a disappointment. I brought my girl & her friends to celebrate her birthday. Called before making non-refundable reservation to make sure the water park was still open nights and was assured it was open weekend nights until 10:00pm through October 27. Checked in at 6:00 to find out was closed. Only open from 10:00 am - 6:00pm. Brittany at the front desk was incredibly rude and had a very negative attitude right off the bat. Tells me, tough luck, you must not be telling the truth. The whole point to this little overnighter was for the girls to use the water park - why would I lie about checking in advance on a non-refundable stay? She then tells me I can upgrade to a room closer to the water park for an additional $28. Our room was the same room we were originally booked into. What? Made Brittany refund that charge. Her attitude did not improve.
Our mini bar was not locked or stocked when we checked in. No coffee service, dirty bed linens on one bed, not enough towels or wash cloths for 5 people (as stated in the reservation), and no bags for the ice bucket. Called guest relations and they sent up 2 ice bags, nothing more.
We stay at the California Grand quite a bit and love it but this is a huge disappointment. I am contacting corporate about Brittany's lack of PR skills.
Went to front desk this morning to check out and make sure I wouldn't be charged for mini bar. I was helped by a very sweet girl, Kerry, who gave us $40.00 in certificates for the water park and who's attitude was markedly better than Brittany's. Giving Brittany the benefit of the doubt, I thought maybe yesterday had been a rough day. Not so. Brittany was even more abrasive.
We won't be staying here or recommending it to anyone again. There are too many great resorts in Phoenix to waste my money here.
