| - This community is the biggest rip off out there! It has a snazzy clubhouse and pool area but it's all a facade. The jacuzzis and fire pits never work, the pool table has broken equipment, and the showers by the pool are always having their handles stolen. The security guard only shows up when he thinks you're drinking by the pool - yet strangers are constantly wandering the grounds, stealing cars and random things off porches and balconies. Every week there are countless posts on the community bulletin boards about packages being stolen off doorsteps. And that is only the beginning!
The apartments are comfortable with built-in bluetooth speakers in the ceiling - which is cool until you realize the person below you has built-in bluetooth speakers, too. And they're probably some douchebag who listens to the same terrible club music over and over. The management makes up a lame excuse every few months to do random "inspections", since you were dumb enough to rent from them and don't deserve any privacy, you idiot. The light fixtures take specialty bulbs because you're made of money, and the carpet is white so you're not getting your security deposit back. There aren't even any shower curtain rods installed. You get half a glass partition that doesn't go across the whole tub and gets soap scum buildup and it is pretty much more work for you.
There is a trash valet service which seems neat until you realize your trashy neighbors will leave their trash outside their door until their trash leaks trash water everywhere that turns black and makes the corridors smell like trash. Occasionally the corridors get pressure washed.....I guess once. That's happened once on my floor in the past year. The first floor gets washed more often since it's more visible.
The "security" gates are always broken down - stuck in an open position. Real secure! /s
The garbage bins outside are consistently in a state of being one trash day behind, and the grounds are crawling with feral cats that tenants have abandoned. Not to mention the piles and piles of dog feces - not even exaggerating! Piles and piles despite the futile placement of poop bag dispensers. There used to be free booze and food and movie nights - those have been phased out. There used to be clean towels by the pool - they have all been stolen and management is NOT buying more. The office is full of over-dressed and overly make-upped snotty girls. The dog park is not well-maintained by either staff or tenants. All this makes the HIGH rent seem like a waste of money, considering you can rent a house for several hundred dollars less in this very area.
We used to live in a nearby apartment complex which we thought was pretty ghetto, but now realize it was probably better since it didn't have all the restrictions Elysian has. No smoking, no drinking by the pool, no privacy, no customer service. You can't even hang by the pool without your "pool pass".
One last thing - there are bum towns and settlements constantly going up and down all around the perimeter. They get cleaned up every now and then but sprout back up soon enough. Theres the trifecta of the freeway, WalMart, and a drainage duct surrounding the complex and that brings a steady stream of hobos, crackheads and beggars coming through. This is fair warning, LOOK ELSEWHERE!
