| - Wow... I must have caught this place on a bad night based on all the other reviews - I would have given them 1 star had it not been for the fact that the staff was very friendly.
First, I eat a LOT of BBQ all over the country and so I consider myself a little bit of pro. I wondered how this place had got its name until I ate here and now I realize you really should be hammered first.
I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs and a side of brisket and collard greens - the brisket was dryer than a popcorn fart and not only was it way too smoky but I think they used old pallets or maybe a tire for the smoke.
The ribs were absolutely horrid. First, I LOVE tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs. That in mind, these were horribly overlooked and the quality of the ribs was horrible as well - if these were from an actual Pig, it was the Wilford Brimely of pigs... TONS of fat, very little meat and I swear every time I bit down I heard some gravelly voice say "DIABEETUSS". Just Really, Really horrible, mushy, fat-filled, greasy, ribs.
I ordered Collard Greens and they were swimming in orange, greasy water and the taste had been boiled right out of them.
Even the corn-bread was dry and flavorless.
Like I said the staff seemed nice and the restaurant looked clean inside. You simply need to be hammered if you're gonna eat their Hog.
