| - The ONLY reason there is a star showing is because I cannot give them a negative rating!!!! Our dogs are our kids - if you love your four legged friends stay away!he ONLY reason there is a star showing is because I cannot give them a negative rating!!!! We visited this location twice-this review is on the last visit.
We dropped our 3 dogs off at Banfield for the teeth cleaning and just before I handed Daisy over she starting having one of her breathing episodes. (Side note-when Daisy gets worked up she has a hard time breathing until we can get her calmed down. This never last longer than a min. or 2 at the very most!!) When we went to pick them up I asked how Daisy's breathing was after we had left. I was told that she got worse so they put her in a room alone to calm down. I was shocked!! You have someone's pet in an unfamiliar place, with unfamiliar people surrounding them and you put her in an unfamiliar room alone to calm down?! WTF?!? After I learned of this I was annoyed to say the least but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I did explain that when Daisy gets excited she has a hard time breathing but it never lasts for more than 2 minutes, ever! There was not a lot more said about her breathing and we were told they would bring our dogs out. Before they opened the door I could hear Daisy struggling to breathe. When I saw her I IMMEDIATELY dropped to the floor trying to calm her down. The associate in the office could see my panic and said she would get the dr. In my opinion, Dr Huddleston came out without a care in the world. He said she had been breathing like that for a while but she should calm down one she gets home. He also mentioned that we said this was normal. I tried to keep my anger under control, I looked at him and asked if lack of breathing like THIS was normal. He backed away towards the door with what I felt was an "oh shit" look on his face and said she would be ok once we got her home. We got Daisy home, tried to get her comfortable, made sure she had water, her medicine then researched the internet to see how we could help her since the doctor was not willing to. After about an hour we call Dr H to tell him things were not getting better, he kept telling us to give her time to settle down and relax. He also said a children's Benadryl would help and told us to watch her tongue. As long as her tongue was pink she was getting enough oxygen. So, we gave her Benadryl and waited. The longer it went on the weaker she got. My husband called Dr. H again and stressed to him the situation. The dr could hear Daisy in the background, that is how loud it was and how hard she was breathing. She was weak, she couldn't stand up anymore and when she laid down she stopped breathing and then things were worse when she tried to get caught up. My husband was told by Dr. H he couldn't give her medicine to help this issue for another 72 hours due to the medicines she had received from the teeth cleaning. He also said if she was like this in the morning he would try something else. I have never seen my husband look so helpless, concerned, and frustrated as I did after that call. We knew if we didnt get Daisy help right away her body was going to give up. She was too weak to even hold herself up. How in the hell was she supposed to make it through the night when she couldnt breathe!!
My husband ended up calling an emergency vet number. He explained the situation and updated them on what he was advised to do by Dr. H. This person told him to bring her in right away!! He hung up the phone and we left. As soon as we got there we had technicians at the door who took Daisy from me to get her help. The vet came in to let us know the battle we were about to face. He let us know she was in an oxygen chamber getting to best oxygen possible. He said her gums were gray so she not getting sufficient oxygen for quite some time. We felt HORRIBLE!! We followed the advise of Dr H and kept watch of her tongue, come to find out that is one of the last things to loss color!! The new vet was going to leave Daisy in the oxygen overnight to help her. After a call to update us every 45 minutes we learned we were too late. Daisy wasnt going to make it and we needed to come in and say our goodbyes... A CARELESS VET COST MY BABY GIRL HER LIFE!!!! RIP Miss Daisy Mae!
