| - I still remember when this mall was lined with rectangular brown tiles, and dark brown fake wood benches. When the Loblaws was the focal point and there was a K-Mart where the Gap now sits. There was a Cineplex, where you went downstairs, the library was within the mall and super small.
Now this place has transformed into a fancy space, without being too pretentious. Lots of local boutiques, designer stores, but also a handful of more affordable stores. This place is either great for window shopping (too $$ can't buy) or dangerous (will buy anyway $$)
This was my first visit in years, and I loved the new additions like Aroma, Lindt, Mastermind, a fancy new Shoppers. The Pusiteri's fits in perfectly here. This might be old new to most people.
Also the first time here as a mom. I found a nice parking space for moms, which was nice, but only realized I was allowed there, after squinting at the small text to figure out what it said (V.I.M very important mummy) with a photo of a pregnant lady, maybe about 4 months. I assumed I could park here with my 10 month old.
Needed to do a diaper change, but wish I used the downstairs bathroom where the parking was, instead of squeezing myself up the narrow corridor in the upstairs bathroom (which hasn't changed since the old days). After all the ladies smiled at my daughter as I wheeled her through, the handicapped / family washroom was occupied. I went into the main washroom area (so many staff!), and I saw a nursing lounge (open to the bathroom), but no change table (but there was a spacious hard counter top). The only one was in the occupied bathroom. So I waited in the small hallway as others squeezed by me. Problem was, the very loud dyson hand dryers were going off all over the place and my daughter was bawling her eyes out. Finally the woman (note: not a family, nor seemingly handicapped), came out and I used the change table. It was very low, a little uncomfortable. And right above the entrance to the toilet bowl. Anything that rolled off, would go in there. Not to mention also the hand dryer seemed to be attached to the adjacent wall and super loud. I don't know how anyone could nurse in the open lounge area. I couldn't get out of there quick enough.
The only other bathroom is on the other side of the mall (or in restaurants and Chapters), so it would be quite busy.
Maybe the other bathrooms are less busy and more kid friendly. The mall itself is pretty accessible and spacious.
Rant over. Just wish they put a little more consideration into these things, especially with a new reno.
