  • I'm a 20 year old female and had been in the car market for just over 6 months looking to buy something new; as my first financed car purchase. I work in the car transport business and have an in-depth understanding of automotive remarking, but maintained a sense of hesitation as the age and gender I fall in make me more susceptible to be taken advantage of. After trying 6 different dealerships, and test driving 11 different cars, I came to Mercedes of Gilbert and, with the help of Peter Cramer, purchased a used 2011 Mini Cooper Clubman with no warranty. It was a great experience, I'd recommend anyone based just off of the initial purchase. The car was excellent and served the exact purpose I purchased it for until the check engine light came on two months after purchasing. Mini Coopers are almost exclusively serviced by Mini Cooper dealerships, so I didn't pursue servicing the car here, but went to a nearby Mini Dealership. After the diagnostic I was told the engine and turbo would need to be replaced due to an pre-existing corroded part and contamination of metal flakes in the engine oil. The repair would cost more than the car was purchased for. After hearing this news, knowing I had no warranty, and I had passed the time frame for implied warranties, I still made Mercedes of Gilbert aware in hopes they might have another option for me then to sell the car for whatever I could, or paying the exuberant amour for the new parts needed. The issue was one that would not have been visible in the dealership inspection, so it was not intentional for them to sell me it with the pre-existing condition. Peter Cramer no longer works at Mercedes of Gilbert so I was working with Sales Manager Ed Franzen. Ed worked it out to where they would give me a discounted rate for the repairs, or I could bring it in and trade it out for another used car they had on the lot. This was a more than generous offer. I worked with Arnold Lim and Christian Harding and was able to pay out my Credit Union for the amount I had financed and then get approved for another loan for the 2012 Toyota Prius I took home. This was a display of incredible integrity by all involved, and the establishment as a whole. I purchased a warranty for the Prius this time (lesson learned) and plan on continuing doing business with Mercedes of Gilbert for any car purchases I have moving forward.
