| - RUN to another place...or expect to spend THOUSANDS on a single appointment!!!
We have gone to Phoenix Children's for 14 years and have always received excellent care and service. However, Phoenix Children's is now practicing "creative" billing.
Although the name says "Urgent Care", be prepared to be billed as though you went to the hospital for surgery. PCH will bill you outrageous amounts for facility charges and SEPARATE doctor fees for a standard orthopedic appointment - which should have been a standard copay.
DO NOT expect their billing department to give you any estimation of charges, fees, etc. Even though you know you are going in for something as simple as a short arm cast, they claim they have no idea how much this will cost. We verified with them while making our appointment they were in network and we were seeing a specialist for our copay amount.
Based on our conversations with management, it seems obvious they are purposefully being deceptive to families and taking advantage of them in their time of need. Management claimed they need to charge for the facility, extensive reading of x-rays (even though no x-ray was performed), supplies, and "other things like that". I wouldn't be a bit surprised if I received another bill from PCH for the air I consumed or for flushing their toilet.
There is no breakdown of charges, no detailed bill, they just have a large sum for "Ancillary Services".
