He Said: She Said covers it nicely. Our barely-French was welcomed here and the beer is outstanding. Clearly, fresh ingredients make the pizza amazing. Kudos to the woman working the "kitchen". This is our kind of place. Not a single thing in detriment.
She Said: Wow. What a wonderful place. There wasn't a bad beer on the board, the atmosphere was terrific, and the food was surprisingly good--even excellent! He Said and I went the first night because we couldn't seem to find our people in Montreal and we hoped that a brewery would make us feel welcome. We were not disappointed by Dieu du Ciel, although our initial visit was at the beginning of the evening rush so a table was tough to come by. Despite the crowd, we definitely found a spot that was well worth the over two-mile walk. In fact, we were so happy with Dieu du Ciel that we hiked back for a second day (though we got there earlier to snag a spot at the bar).
Both visits meant pizza for us: a tasty flatbread crust and fresh toppings made me ridiculously happy. I'm a pizza snob, and I don't usually find one worth raving about. This one is worth raving about. (Insert mad raving here.)
I'm jealous of the guy who was at Dieu du Ciel both days we visited. He had his laptop and sat at a table in the back of the pub typing madly. He looked at home. I wish I could make this place my home too.
She Said Potty Points: Five out of five potty points. Despite the insane crowds, the bathrooms remained in good shape and there was never a wait.
