I was so excited to stay at a JW. This is part of the luxury brands under Marriot family and I haven't never been to one before. And it's always better on company money =D
Positives:
- Everyone was so exceedingly nice. I think Cali is already nice compared to east coast where I've spent most of my life, but this is almost to a new level. Every employee says "hi how are you" when you walk by. Even the pool waiters who didn't serve you say "thank you, see you again soon" as you walk away.
- Beautiful pool area with lots of lounge chair and the lazy river is kinda fun for 20 min or if you have kids.
- Room service portions are HUGE, so actually not a bad deal for the price.
- I left a pair of shoes there and they are sending them to me the next day, again great service.
Negatives:
- For how much land there is and how huge the resort is, I expect our "deluxe room" to be a little bigger. The bathroom got plenty of space, I wish that was maybe redistributed to the sleeping space. There's only 1 small table so we ended up putting the big tray of room service on the bed instead.
- I didn't like the set up of the bathroom of how the bathtub was on the opposite side of the shower. Had I taken a bath, I would have to walk all the way across and wet the floor before able to jump in the shower. Also there's no shower hook right next to the shower, so small inconveniences.
- They charged $9 for contact solution with no case. Gave us some toothpaste by mistake but then realized it and came back to ask for them back... Really...?
- NO SERVICE BY THE POOL BEFORE 11AM. What if I want a strawberry daiquiri at 9AM?? It's 5PM where guys....
- The pool food was super sub-par: my kale salad was mostly romaine and not kale and the chicken was horrendously dry.
Can't comment:
- Didn't play golf or go to the spa, so no idea...
Overall: A nice resort and I guess the price is reasonable considering it's a JW. But for the top tier hotel in the Marriott chain, I expected better.
