| - It's hard to write a negative review about a Valley staple. We've been going to Majerle's since it was a single location downtown. It's a dependable go-to spot. However, as we settled for dinner Friday night, we finally realized that we no longer go to Majerle's because we want to, but rather because we knew it would be half empty and a group of us would have no trouble getting tables.
Sure enough, our two families were promptly seated in an almost empty dining room. The next thing we noticed was how outdated the menu was. We frequent different establishments 4-5 times a week and have noticed a trend toward lighter fare options while the menu here is typical heavy bar grub. There's no creativity or attraction for someone looking for a healthier option that's not a bland salad.
A warm spot is the diverse beer selection. Many options on tap, including my favorite, Papago Brewery's Orange Blossom! Staff is friendly, managers frequently run food out of kitchen. However, management seems clueless to attracting more business.
While we were having our family dinner with our teenagers, the facility was hosting a karaoke night. Imagine our surprise and disappointment when management allows a song with b*tch & f*ck all over it. While the words were written as above nobody stopped the singer from yelling them out over the restaurant's sound system. It never occurred to management, or karaoke staff, that maybe playing that song around 10:00 pm and while families are dining, may not be a good idea. So that lost them another star in the rating.
Overall, if you are running short on time and need a place to grab a drink and don't mind typical bar food, go to Majerle's. It will always be half empty..
