| - Two-and-a-half stars. Meh. The fact that this place has been there for 20+ years and still no one has claimed the Yelp page confirms my label of "mediocre." The guys' department is sorely lacking. They formerly (ie: Last millennium) had a plethora of stuff for us. But alas, not any more. However, I do go here for the kitchen wares department in the rear corner. Good finds and great deals. Clocks, too. Linens. Nice little selection. Ultra clean and (usually) organized.
Except for the last time I went.
I needed a frying pan. Now please understand that there are several (nay, many) types of surfaces that Americans cook on these days. There's the gold one, the white one (ceramic nonstick), the dark one (traditional Dupont nonstick), and traditional stainless (silver). However, I COULD NOT SEE ONE OF THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE TURNED ALL AROUND BACKWARDS so the bottoms were facing me! ALL 50 pans!! I am tall so I gingerly turned each one around, but it was acutely frustrating.
I wanted a ceramic nonstick (white interior), but found a wonderful OXO brand with Dupont in a box and with a lid!! SCORE!!!
But we're not done here.
I get up to the front and try to pay for it, but there's no price. I was waiting forever, so I asked the staff assembled at the front desk, why are the pans all turned around? I can't see what's inside! The one lady's response was: "it's like the toilet paper roll -- it's the same either way." I just about fell on the floor, but before I did, I replied: yes, but I don't cook with the BOTTOM of a pan, do I? She claimed not to know there were different insides.
It was laughable and as entertaining as it was frustrating. I will be back and I will shop again. It is a nice store, especially for women and accessories and jewelry and stuff. No so much for men's clothes.
