| - So this is my second review for this particular LA. I feel it deemed necessary secondary to the fact that it has been recently remodeled. My star rating is staying the same however. This place is also under new management.
Being into the weights it is vitally important, not just to me but for everyone that lifts, that the area is to be functional and equipped. That being said. Yes, they have added 6 brand new racks, at least 6-8 bench press machines, all new benches for free weights, a free standing resistance rope rack, maybe 8-12 new weight machines, and ALL new cardio machines.
The weight area is a little cramped and and half of the racks are not facing mirrors, which to me is very important for maintaining proper body mechanics. Most of the lighter free weights are stored in their personal training area, but as I have done in the past, asking the trainers or manager if you can borrow them is usually not a problem if they aren't busy. Most of the weight area benches are bolted down, so making more room can be challenging if you don't want to sit during a exercise.
Now on to the cardio. The machines are new. They have added brand new stair masters, which are very nice and a lot safer then the older ones at other gyms. The treadmills are new, but some are facing the mirror so it can be weird watching yourself run, however they have more tredmills in the other cardio section that do not face a mirror. They have new stepper machines, stationary bikes, and "gazelle" machines.
The whole gym was repainted. They also added the fancy LA picture wallpaper. The sauna was redone with new wood and furnace. The locker rooms have not changed though (*sad face*). The kids club was also painted, however still doesn't have a play gym because of the smaller space assuming.
Overall, the gym has made improvements for sure. Just hope they are open to arranging some things, like the weight area.
