| - This is a McGill student residence that doubles as a discount hotel during the summer.
It costs about $100 per night + tax, which doesn't really put it in the "discount" range, but whatever. Your fee includes a trip to the breakfast bar up to $6 per guest in the room. I guess it's expensive because the location can't be beat! Really, it's adjacent to McGill, in the heart of downtown, within minutes to Parc Mont-Royal
Before it was a residence, it was actually a commercial hotel, so don't worry, there are two double beds, a desk and private bathrooms. It's slightly run down, I had a hard time closing the blinds. The beds felt like someone put a piece of cardboard over a sponge, and the AC made the room smell like a gym locker.
Free wifi is included, but parking is not. There's a public parking garage in a building next door, it costs about $20/night.
Be wary though, car theft is rampant in Montreal, even from garages. My friend had his car stolen from this specific garage during our trip. The security guards were unsurprised, and noted that it had happened a month ago. All in all, it was a VERY expensive trip to Montreal!!
