Mediocre food and difficult service.
My significant other and I went to dinner at Matteo's on the Friday of Halloween weekend. We came without reservation and we were promptly seated.
The first bottle of wine we ordered was unavailable. We thus placed an order for a second choice. Our waiter came back and told us that this option was also unavailable. We were offered a third choice not of our choosing for the same price as the second.
I had the mushroom ravioli which were decent. I did not feel like the sauce truly complimented the ravioli which left me a little unsatisfied. Thus I asked our waiter for some olive oil. After a few minutes, the waiter returned with what seemed to be canola oil, definitely not olive oil. Apart from the fact I do not understand how an Italian restaurant does not have olive oil in the kitchen but I especially did not appreciate being lied to. Last but not least, there was an extremely large and noisy party. I could barely hear my significant other who was sitting right in front of me. We felt a little disappointed that the management did not ask the party to slightly lower the volume as a courtesy to other guests.
I do not recommend this restaurant, especially when Piccolo Forno is few blocks away.
