| - Let me preface this review by saying I frequent these kind of places, so I know exactly what to expect. This is not my first time.
I visited the Durango location, and it was not a good experience. I purchased the package with the hot stone upgrade, which I was very excited for. The environment was not so peaceful though. My massage therapist smelled like cigarette smoke, there was no music put on until halfway through my massage so I could hear every employee chatting and laughing for the first half hour, and the smells of their lunch was all over the room.
After the initial foot portion I was asked to turn over (which is standard across the board at these places). I was then asked to take off my shirt, which in my experience is not standard. We are in a large co-ed room, with other people around, and I did not feel comfortable taking off my shirt, so I declined to do so. I said he could pull it up a bit (it was a baggy shirt anyway so this would be easy). He continued on after that just going over the shirt, which was fine with me. This is not what i take issue with. Ladies just know that if you do not completely take your shirt off, then you will not get hot stones. I paid for hot stones, and after the massage ended (5 mins early btw) with no hot stones, I asked why there were none, and he said because I would not take my shirt off. I was under the impression that the hot stones were going to be used elsewhere, like on my legs/feet. Just be aware that they are apparently only on your back, and you will not get them if you do not fully take your shirt off. He very easily could have still used them on my back with my shirt pulled up, but did not. Still this was not my biggest problem, which brings me to...
Afterward, when I asked for change for my $20 so I could tip him, he gave me a ten and 2 fives. I asked if he could break down one of the fives for some ones, and he said "why?". I asked again, and he pointed to a piece of paper on the counter that says a $10 tip is recommended. He basically held my money in his hands, not giving it back. I said that $10 is the recommended tip, not required. He didn't even know why I was asking for the ones, maybe it was to tip him $12, or $14, bottom line is he did not give me my change. I said he could keep the ten and then I left. So unprofessional!!! I will not be back!
