I loved that I got a call back authorizing the sleep study - covered by my insurance company - but did not learn until 2 months after while I'm on my way to better sleep that this place was out of network. I know that I could have done more homework, in fact, I thought I had. It all sounded like it was going so smoothly. In order to meet my OON deductible, I'm now stuck with almost $1000 in bills for equipment.
I heard:
"It looks like you've met your deductible." (this is for the doctor's visit)
"You're so fortunate that your insurance company is generously paying for all of this." (this is for the equipment)
What happened:
None of that.
Advice: GET IT IN WRITING OR RECORDED FROM THE FRONT DESK, THE BILLING DEPARTMENT, AND THE CLINICIAN THAT OUTFITS YOU WITH YOUR MACHINE HOW MUCH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY IS PAYING BEFORE YOU TAKE A SINGLE THING HOME.
