| - Where do I begin when it comes to the King Edward hotel? With the lobby of course. There are almost no words. It's really beautiful, with marble everywhere and it was just so elegant, almost too elegant, as I stood there in my shorts and t-shirt gaping at the hugeness of it all. They apparently serve afternoon tea, and they also do a brunch, but it's way too expensive.
Throughout our stay in Toronto, I really appreciated the location of our hotel. Almost smack dab in the middle of the financial district, accessible to the King subway stop, as well as many streetcars you can pretty much get anywhere you want in Toronto from here. St. Lawrence Market is a 5 minute walk and it's across the street from the Beer Bistro (review to come soon).
The elevators are treacherous, seriously, if you plan on going into one of these elevators, make sure it's within .5 seconds of the door opening; otherwise it will close shut on your arm. Our room was very nice, huge comfy King sized bed, flat screen TV and a huge bathroom. There was even a safe in one of the closets. I also managed to get to the gym everyday (astonishing, I know) and it was extremely clean, and they provided water bottles and towels. It wasn't very big, but big enough to let you get a full body workout. There is also a Spa located in the hotel, but Joe wouldn't let me take advantage of that :(
They charge you for EVERYTHING, I made one phone call that lasted maybe 2 minutes and it was like $4.00! Internet was something like $13.00 a day or hour, I can't remember.
Everyone was extremely nice to us and they really catered to all of our needs, from when Joe locked his beer in the mini fridge to when I lost my wallet. I would come back to the King Edward hotel in a heartbeat!
