Another home warranty assignment. I had high hopes for them when I had a sink with two issues (1) clog and (2) leaking pipe - and missed a call from "Rodney" (no voicemail left) on Labor Day Sunday. That Tuesday, I got a call from "Bonnie" to schedule an appointment on Thursday from 3-7pm. I requested a call before arrival and - hallelujah - "Erik" called when he was about 15 minutes away @ 3:15pm.
He arrived shortly after and went right to work. He fixed the leak fairly quickly but told me he did not have the proper equipment to work on the clog in his truck (WHAT?!) and he'd call me the next day to come back and complete the job. (Hopes dashed, but still positive).
Lo and behold - no call. I finally called the warranty company (First American Home Warranty) and they told me the plumber "denied" the service request because I needed a ground-level clean out (which is not covered under the home warranty) and they could do it for $389.
Erik never told me ANY of that at the time of the visit, and no one ever called me back to explain. Had he/they explained that I would have gladly continued to work with them.
So I'm stuck with a severely clogged drain and the search for a better plumber (and probably a better home warranty company, too, because I always feel I get screwed with the companies assigned through FAHW. Upon further investigation, this particular plumber has an F with the BBB and some choice reviews here as well.
I'm all about CLEAR COMMUNICATION. I will give any company a chance, and appreciate ones that do what they say they will do. They did not.
