  • I am a classically trained scientist, and very comfortable with things that have clearly defined inputs and outputs. Well, the brain is notorious for not leaving anything "clearly defined" for long, and I was suffering from a debilitating and frankly dangerous mental block while performing a complex task. I couldn't resolve it myself, so it was time to be open to a different solution. In my business, we sometimes say, "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." This is about as close to magic as I've ever seen. I found and messaged Jeff on Yelp and after a quick exchange, I got that feeling that he understood my challenge and that he honestly believed he could help. He said something like, "get ready because your life is about to change!" My mental response was, "well, I feel like my life is pretty good, I really just want help with this one little thing!" During our first session, things happened within me that my rational mind was in complete disbelief of. Further, my mental block was almost completely removed, and my general mood (not bad to begin with) had even improved. Still in disbelief, I went back for another session a few days later just to see if I had imagined the whole thing. This time, he said, "I'm going to throw in a little exercise motivation, since that would be good for you." I'm not unfit, but I've loathed the gym, and have avoided it for literal years. So without saying anything I laughed it off as a well-meaning but ultimately futile gesture. Next day, I walk past the gym and think, you know, I probably could do that. Less than a week later I'm getting a legit cardio workout. I told a friend this and they laughed, until they realized I wasn't kidding. For my money, if that's not magic, I don't know what is. You probably owe it to yourself to stop suffering!
