  • The HoB is a fantastic place to see a show. An avid concert-goer, I've seen my fair share of shows here and have developed theories and strategies to maximize the fun. Other than a sub-par performances or equipment malfunctions, a great concert can actually be within your own control. Here are some tips: Timing - Opening bands generally go on about 45 minutes after 'doors open'. They play for about 45 minutes as well. Then there's about 15-20 minutes between the opening act and the headliner. You may or may not have any desire to see the opening band, but getting there in time will give you an opportunity to get a great spot, either on the floor or along the peripheral rail surrounding the floor. Position - position depends on how close you want to be to the band, versus how close you want to be to the bar and restrooms. For all the shows I've seen there, and the frequency with which I have to return to restock imbibing supplies, my favorite spot is along the rail to the right of the stage. You can tuck yourself into a spot along the rail and have relatively easy access to restrooms and the bar, while having a great, unobstructed view of the stage. The acoustics there are not as good as they are on the floor, or on the balcony though. If you wish to be closer to the band, it doesn't get much better than the floor, but it's a hassle to get to and from the floor. Drink selection - the greater the volume, the better the value. As I am a person with a larger frame and sausage fingers, I enjoy the PBR tallboys or the my-size 24oz Budweiser. Plus you'll want volume to save on trips to and from the bar, so you can enjoy more of the show.
