  • Only in Vegas baby! Only in Vegas can you book a room that costs less than the "Resort Fees". Not that I'm complaining because it's still wicked cheap. And just convenient enough to walk to the strip, but just far enough you don't stay up all night thanks to the non-stop neon lights on steroids. Only in Vegas can you get a room that is ultra spacious, clean and comfortable, and still end up with a mini-fridge that isn't working and slowly smelling funkalicious, a leaky shower pipe that drips all night long (the solution: pile on a few towels under the drip to absorb the sound.) And an AC that must be built by people with no hearing because no way it could have passed inspection without someone shouting out "HEY! IS THAT LOUD TO YOU?! NO? OK, SHIP IT!" Only in Vegas can you get the semblance of a Tuscany villa on the outside, but the minute you step inside the main lobby you are instantly transported to Kitsch, Las Vegas. This place looks like it was decorated by someone's grandma with an oversized budget. In other words, extravagance + old folk furnishings. Italian style. Only in Vegas can you get a couple of burglars fast walking through the property, being chased by police, who are also fast walking. Neither willing commit to a fast sprint in order not to make it look like a scene. You gotta admire the civility here. Not something you see in Vegas that often. Overall though, I did enjoy my stay. I can't imagine staying in any other hotel for less than 45 bucks a night, and feel like I actually got a good night rest. Oh, what about that AC? My solution: I cranked the AC to ultra high for a few hours before I went to bed, then turned it off, and coasted to gradually warming temperatures til the morning. It worked, because I sleep naked. You probably didn't need to know that. - John Master Lee
