Teppanyaki Kyoto is certainly Japanese looking. Some of the staffs are Japanese, the table next to us were Japanese students too. It means something... I guess.
We had,
Fried Squid tentacles ($7) - small starter, great with beer and sake.
Raw Octopus Salad with wasabi ($4) - got what I expected. It was great.
Hiyayako Tofu ($4) - it's not bad, it's just "I-should-have-READ-the-menu". It is "tofu with chinese mustard pickles and spicy chili on top". The chinese mustard pickles are like a dollar per pack at Chinese grocery store. The spicy chili can also be found in Chinese grocery store ("spicy chili crisp" / ???). So yes, you can totally DIY this at home.
octopus balls ($7) - the highlight of the night. We had this in Hong Kong before, but they certainly do it better here. Highly recommended. BTW, the order comes with 6 balls.
Hiroshimayaki with oysters ($10+$3) - my first thought was that I added $3 for 2 oysters... well, consider an oyster is like $1 from the east coast and $2 from the west, then $3 was correctly about 2 oysters. Am I suppose to add multiple types of meat?
The teriyaki sauce they used is certainly on the sweeter side. Be prepared for a sweet dinner.
Too bad they don't have the green-tea cheesecake that night. Certainly will be back to try that. Overall, it was not too expensive. Great atmosphere and not too loud. Great with friends or a date.
