| - Two stars would be tempting, but I'm jumping up to four because of the helpfulness of the girl working front desk and the general friendliness of the workers in general the morning after.
Anyway, the story goes...
My girlfriend and I got this room on our way back to Michigan from Dover and we wanted to stay in a not isolated city for not a ton of money -- this is what we got. Driving here from the east at 10pm was a bit scary -- you drive right through the nice city of Pittsburgh and into a bit of a slummy looking area to get here. At night, it truly looks run down, especially since this Comfort Inn is right next door to a shady and dumpy "adult" store.
Checking in was a breeze, and we went to our room -- this was moments before we both gagged. We got in the room and did a brief inspection -- small room, but it looked alright. After looking at the sink, we noticed the counters weren't cleaned. The toilet and shower were fine, but there was some crusty crap on the counter tops.
The bed? Oh... oh, my Lord. After pulling back the sheets... well, not saying exactly what it was... a clumpy, crusty, white stain in the middle of the bed. Additionally, there was another suspicious stain on the red blanket laying across the comforter. We called the front desk and we had our room changed with zero hassle -- we were also happy to hear the front desk woman asking someone else who had "cleaned" our room.
...our next room was fine. Clean all-around, and we had no complaints.
Not the sexiest hotel option in Pittsburgh (although it seemed to be for ONE man in room 214), but don't be too fooled by the sketchy looking area... it felt perfectly safe, and the employees I encountered were perfectly accommodating.
