If I am at The Mirage and want to go to The Wynn, I think I would need to go north on Las Vegas Blvd for about 8 min. Why the cab driver got on the highway going South past the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign towards the M then going east through Henderson merging on the 515 N and getting off on LV boulevard about 40 min later I will never know. I guess he must've thought I was a tourist instead I work at both The Mirage and The Wynn and reside in Henderson, maybe that makes me a tourist because I don't live in Vegas.I guess besides the dent in my wallet I gotta tour around Las Vegas which covers both Henderson and East areas....Yay!!!! but I got yelled at by my boss at The Wynn for being 30min late. I can only imagine how the tourists get taken advantage of in this situation. Luckily were in a time where ridesharing is becoming more common and while the cab companies will fight to keep their prime spot in front of the hotels while making uber/lyft passengers go around the back of the hotel to get a ride like second class citizens, it is imperative to make smart choices and avoid taking a cab. The lack of social interaction, odd driving and navigating behavior followed by the lame excuses of "Im new", "I cant change the meter," they have difficulty speaking english, or the most famous one "Im just following the GPS." is not worth it. I'm not even going to contest this because it's pointless dealing with the cab companies whereas every dispute I had with Uber/Lyft was efficiently resolved in my favor most of the time. I beleive cab drivers are like the old school cliche car salesman and we all know how those guys were like. As one who cares about humanity I urge everyone to consider alternatives to cab companies especially during times of vulnerability.
