  • I am disappointed that I've put off writing this review. I should've done it while everything was fresh in my mind. Anyhow, this was a fantastic experience! I would absolutely dine at Posh again. We decided to dine early to take advantage of the Sunset pricing. This allowed use to try more courses - even though we eventually settled on the 5 course meal with wine pairing. Now, this place is an interesting concept. There is no set menu, just a card with possible ingredients. It is your job to mark off what you would NOT want and also specify allergies, dietart restrictions and meat temperature preferences. You also choose the number of courses and whether you would like to add the wine pairing as well. We sat at the counter so we could watch the action. Our server was great, she explained everything and was very friendly. An important thing to mention: our server explained that you will receive the same amount of food whether you order 4 courses or 7 courses. So people complaining about not receiving enough food obviously have issues. If you get 7 courses, you will just receive smaller portions. I am not a big fish eater, so I chose to exclude most of the fish (except swordfish and uni) from my menu card. My friend is not a fan of veal or uni, so she crossed those off. We both made certain specifications - I do not prefer brussel sprouts or green beans and she does not like mushrooms. We let the chef choose the temperature of our meat/fish and gave our server our card. We started with an amuse bouche of homemade udon noodles. It was a great start and the noodles were amazing. The dish itself was pretty light. My first course was a small salad of butter lettuce, topped with shaved salmon, pickled mustard seeds, tomatoes and a champagne vinagrette. It didn't knock my socks off, and I wished I would've been served the cauliflower soup that my friend got, but overall it was good. My next course was uni. Now, I wouldn't have normally included this, but having never tried it, I wanted to give it a go. I'm glad it was one of my courses, because it was well done, but it's not something I would include again. it was served 2 ways: in a "cheesecake," which was light, but had a strange texture (that's just the uni). It was on top of a cucumber reduction and then topped with raw uni. It was far too fishy for me, but that's just my taste and I already menitoned that I am not a fish eater. My friend tried it and loved it. 3rd was diver scallops with sunchoke puree and asparagus. Absolutely delicious! The scallops were cooked perfectly and the puree was a great touch. Asparagus is always a good idea, and this didn't disappoint. My 4th course was veal sweetbreads with carrot puree, zuchinni and topped with a cabbage salad. This was my first experience with this dish and I was pleasantly surprised. You would have a hard time convincing someone that it wasn't just very tasty, perfectly cooked fried chicken! I even had my friend try it and she admittedly loved it, even though she normally doesn't like veal. I have to note that my friend's 4th course was kangaroo! It was so darn delicious and perfectly cooked. The meat is a bit tough, but I figure that is expected with this type of animal. It was really, really good and I am glad we both tried it. For dessert I feel like they were off base with me. I really am not a chocolate eater and my dish was ALL chocolate. Don't get me wrong, they have no way of really knowing that, but we laughed because my friend got a pair of really good creme brulees and I got chocolate overload. However, both were really delicious. Our wine pairing was great as well. Our server usually offered a couple of options, based on our tastes, and everything paired perfectly. I'm glad we did this instead of just buying a bottle of wine and being stuck with 1 varietal. Overall this was a superb experience. I like the ambience of the restaurant - it is modern and open. 5 courses was perfect for us - we both left feeling full. Not Thanksgiving full, but satisfied and very happy. If you come here and expect that one of your courses will be a huge t-bone steak, you will likely be disappointed. If you come here with an open mind and are ready to try different things, you will probably be happy, as we were!
