| - Attempting to make a long story short:
Booked a 4 night stay back in March. Paid for it with a charge card. Got confirmation. Got charged. The whole nine yards. Point is, I had a room booked and it was paid for.
When I arrive, after a 9 hour trek, no one can find my reservation. Luckily, and thank God I brought it, I had my confirmation paperwork with me and the corresponding emails confirming this. No one can help me. So they bring in a "manager" to assist, she can't find my reservation either. I give her the paperwork, again, and suddenly she finds my reservation in the computer...but, alas, she says I was only charged for one night...despite what my paperwork says, so she can't give me the room unless I want to pay for the stay in full ($500 cash)...that I already paid for! They gave me the "tough s**t" attitude, and wouldn't budge. I had to get a 3rd person (another "manager") involved. She backed them. I traveled 9 hours, got to my hotel that I'd paid for in full back in March, and was told...nope, can't have your room. It was quite infuriating.
So, after about 45 minutes of back and forth, I ended up convincing them to allow me to have the room for the one night they claimed I paid for and then I'd call my spouse at home and have her fax a copy of my charge card over (I left that card at home and didn't take it with me). They said they'd allow me in the room, so long as I left a $100 cash deposit. Unbelievable. Just, amazing. So I agreed to that, got to my room, took a much needed nap, and then called home.
Insult to injury, I suppose, the new "manager" found my reservation right away. How do they "lose" reservations? Honestly, how do you "lose" one...then find it? She says I don't need to fax my card info over, and she'll get me set up and I can come get my deposit. When I get to the front desk, and this is mind blowing, they say I will only get $92 back because of a phone call that was made. The front desk called me! In my room, and they wanted to charge me $8 for that?!
This is the most pathetic hotel staff I've dealt with. If leaving you standing in the lobby, with the "nothing I can do" attitude despite you having all the paperwork showing you have a reservation and it's been paid in full isn't insulting enough...infuriating is more accurate, the idea that they try to charge you when the front desk calls your room is just bogus.
Avoid this place. Really, avoid it. The ice machines were broke 3 out of the 4 days I was there. It's in a shady, industrial-like area surrounded by strip clubs with bars on the windows (they kinda resemble "stripper jails" more accurately)..BUT, if you do stay, I'd encourage you to bring a copy of every single piece of paper/email/etc they send you. And even that might not be enough, as it wasn't for me, but without those papers I would have been totally lost.
