I've only recently made it to the Addisons Residence and have quickly become a fan. The place is pimped out so that you feel like you're in a wealthy person's mansion. Earlier in the evening it's as if you are attending a suave games night while people indulge in jenga etc and later when the DJ makes an appearance it has transformed to a super cool house party.
Some nice touches that make all the difference:
- $4 rail drinks until 10, even on Friday and Saturday nights
- no cover charge
- no super strict dress code
- free pizza (usually comes out after midnight)
- 25+ general age restriction (at 29 I don't feel 100 years old when I'm in here)
- they have a venue photographer and are prompt at uploading images to their Facebook page the next day
- coat check ($3 per item)
This place definitely skews to a slightly older crowd, especially with the music they play. The DJ goes through a varied mix that throws Bon Jovi, Tupac and Destiny's Child all in together. Everyone in there knows all the words and it is just dark enough that you can dance shamelessly like nobody's watching.
One thing I'd change is the fact that there is a bathroom attendant. I dont think it is necessary (this isn't Vegas) and I always feel guilty because I never have cash to leave them.
Tip: The place is quiet before 10pm and the crowd rolls in quickly when 11 closes in. If you get here after midnight you'll probably be waiting in a line.
