I have been trying to drag my husband here since we moved to Pittsburgh and finally we made it in, step-son in tow. As I expected the food was fantastic. We shared a 4 entree platter: Zilzil Tibs, Doro Wat, Gomen Besiga and Inguday Wat. We each had our favorite... mine was the Gomen Besiga, while I was very nervous about eating kale prepared in any manner whatsoever, it was flavorful and the beef perfectly tender. My husband loved the Zilzil Tibs - strips of beef with peppers and onions and the kid loved the spicy Doro Wat - chicken dumbsticks in a spicy sauce. The sauce was excellent,. I was not crazy about the chicken. Finally we all agreed that the vegetarian dish - lentils and mushrooms was excellent as well.
The decor was minimal and comfortable. Our waiter was nice, a little stressed but I am not sure why, he was not weeded, the place was maybe half full and there were other servers on the floor... so he was pretty slow to take orders and check on drinks etc.
I was disappointed by the desserts. I would rather have seen a selection of more Ethiopian sweets than dave and andy ice cream. but we did get a round of coffee (tea for the kid - he loved it) and cake and ice cream to share.
