| - To be frank, I came into an evening at this place thinking it'd be lumped in with other King West establishments, and I was very pleasantly surprised.
It's located off of Adelaide (at Portland) so it's a bit quieter. We arrived early for an event and our server was on top of the entire group throughout the night, which is impressive considering the group grew as the night went on.
It's one thing to pay $14-16 for a cocktail that is sold to you as a 'craft' cocktail, which is everywhere in Toronto these days. However, at Spirit House, these drinks were truly an experience. The smoked bourbon? Yeah, smoke comes out from the glass when its flipped over and you can smell it. All of it. Now that's an experience.
I also started with a ceasar, which was done pretty well.
The ambiance was nice. It was a bit of an older crowd so people behaved themselves. As the night worn on, the music got a bit louder (think 90s hiphop) but it wasn't unbearable, which I liked.
On top of it, our server was lovely and engaging, so always a bonus. I'd go back.
