  • Every time I come to REI, friendly staff explains their products with "when I go xxxxxx I use xxxx." All of them I talked to so far, always start with "when I go xxxx." Somehow they only hire outdoor enthusiasts? Or only outdoor enthusiasts apply? Their explanation and suggestions on products are very helpful. They don't try to sell you the most expensive stuff. They ask questions about my purpose and only recommend what they think is the best for my use. I purchased my first pair of real hiking shoes here a year ago. That pair safely took me to the Humphrey and back, and traveled 100,000 miles with me last year. The knowledge they shared with me about how to select correct hiking shoes for my feet and the way I walk helped me pick correct shoes then after. Don't forget to sign up for REI membership card with currently one time sign up fee of $20. They will give you 10% back at the end of year and it is easy to spend over $200 with them throughout the year as they offer so many great quality outdoor goods. You will get your money back in no time.
