| - Having grown up in the Bay Area, I am used to either super bougie small-batch ice cream stores that sell ice cream in really expensive and small quantities, or else chain stores like Baskin-Robbins. It was only after I came to Cleveland that I discovered the wonder of Mitchell's, which offers quality ice cream at reasonable prices!
This particular location is great, because it is so convenient for all the students to come and get ice cream whenever they want. And by whenever, I mean anytime from the hottest summer days to even the coldest winter nights.
What is great about Mitchell's the variety of flavors and options they have available. You can get ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt, or a smoothie. My go-to flavor tends to be the Caramel Fudge Brownie (tastes just like it sounds), but when I am craving something a little lighter, I like the Lemon Black Raspberry Yogurt (tart, and has a clean taste). There are also seasonal flavors, but I tend not to like them that much, except for the Honey Lavender which makes an appearance over the summer. Unfortunately, I usually am not in the area during this time, so I haven't had it in a long time.
I tend to like to buy a pint over getting a scoop, because it is cheaper that way. You can get complimentary cones in a pack of 3, and there was even once where I asked if I could get two packs (which they let me).
Additionally, their ice cream cakes and pies are great ways to celebrate a birthday! I highly recommend the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chunk Cake and the Cookies & Cream Pie.
Definitely going to miss this place when I graduate in a few months!
