| - Right now I'm sitting in Terminal 1 of YYZ, staring at traffic. Air Canada's flight was delayed coming in (as per usual), making me miss my connection, and the next available flight was 7 hours away. Oh, and they lost my luggage. But that's on Air Canada, not YYZ.
Anyway, I have very mixed feelings about this airport. Terminal 1, at least, is very pretty. I'm in here about 8 times a year, so I do appreciate that. However...
1. Luggage Claim is absolutely absurd. I've missed 2 connecting flights at YYZ because the luggage was so DAMNED slow coming to the carousel. I waited, no word of a lie, 35 minutes once. And by the way, does ANYBODY know what those bizarre neon cursive letters on the wall spell out? I still can't figure it out.
2. Connected to the above, customs is absolute crap, either coming into Canada or entering into the US. For some bizarre reason, you pick up your luggage, go through customs and THEN must go back through security because there is no other way to make a connecting flight but first coming out at arrivals and then reentering. Why go through security for the SECOND time?
3. I bought a mini-pizza and a bottle of Coke, and the total was $13.50. I've never seen an airport with higher prices.
4. The chairs, at least outside of the secured zone, are incredibly uncomfortable. Really, they're just hard plastic.
5. Power outlets? I've been looking for one for about an hour now.
6. Pay-for-WI-FI. Oh wait, it's free now.
4 more hours to go...
