| - [Originally I granted 4 stars, but because of the debacle of my return trip to the airport, have deducted one star.]
Arriving in Vegas I was uncertain of my options on getting from the airport to the Encore. I knew taxis were available, but unsure of Uber or Lyft's availability (some airports restrict access to these companies). A private car/limo was out of my price range and I wanted to spend less than what I had been told a taxi ride would cost. It's been years since I've used a Super Shuttle, but with a 12% off coupon I found online, how could I turn down a rate that was going to be less than $20 roundtrip?! I made reservations online.
Having provided them with my cell number, as soon as I landed they texted me with instructions on what to do and where to go-- very helpful. I proceeded with the mobile check-in process as I walked to the curbside check-in kiosk (very convenient to the baggage claim). Upon receiving my ride confirmation number, I had to walk a distance to the shuttle, from door/exit 53 to door/exit 56; probably a quarter mile, but I like walking.
The driver was waiting for me, the last of his 4 passengers.
Traffic, as usual, on the Strip was awful. But our driver safely navigated through it and then went around most of it. It took about 20 minutes to get from the airport to the Wynn (normally that drive takes 30-40 minutes). Now, my one gripe: my reservation was for the Encore, NOT the Wynn, and being dropped off at the Wynn meant I had to walk at least a half mile in 3" heels with a suitcase BEFORE I even made it to the Encore's registration desk!
All in all, I'm NOT complaining--good service for a more than reasonable price!
UPDATE:
Though the ride FROM the airport went seamlessly, the ride back TO the airport...NOT AT ALL.
I called SuperShuttle the day before my return trip to find out if since I was staying at the Encore, if I could be picked up THERE instead of at the Wynn (where I had been dropped off). That would only be possible if I were to make a new reservation. Ok, so forget that, but I DID clarify that I would be picked up where I had been dropped off--yes, that's correct.
The following morning I arrived EARLY to that spot on the curb where I had been dropped off just days before. Pick up time came and went, no shuttle. Then I received a text saying that the driver was experiencing some delays and the arrival time was adjusted by a few minutes (but still within the 15 minute pick-up window). No problem. I clicked over to the "tracking map" they provided and noticed that the shuttle had passed the exit where I was waiting. There was a "button" that said "Contact Driver" so I tapped it--the automated voice on the line said I wasn't authorized to place that call. On the map it looked as though the shuttle had stopped at another place at the Wynn. So, with my luggage, I speedwalked over there (grateful I had decided to forego wearing my 3" heels that morning). I arrived at that spot, no shuttle. Checked the map, it looked as if he had just exited the resort property and headed back towards where I had just been. I turned around and dashed back. No shuttle.
I needed to get to the airport!
I called SuperShuttle. The gal who answered my call was friendly, and said that the driver had marked me as a "No Show". I explained to her what had happened, and that if I wasn't where I should have been, it was because the driver who had dropped me off at the Wynn had dropped me off at the WRONG spot (found out from the valet workers around that area that where I had been dropped off was NOT the area I should have been dropped off at) and I had called the day before and made certain I was supposed to wait where I had been dropped off. She then transferred me to the Dispatch Desk.
This gal was also friendly...but couldn't help me. The next shuttle she could have at the Wynn was an hour later and that would have been too late (my plane would have been boarding).
I was left on the curb with no ride to the airport.
(A valet at the Wynn, Anthony, stepped in when I asked, and went out of his way to secure me a ride to the airport. The taxi driver, John, was very friendly and got me there quickly. I called SuperShuttle from the airport to ask for a refund and spoke with a very polite, helpful attendant. He filed the necessary paperwork.)
I may choose to use SuperShuttle again, but will make sure that I know EXACTLY where I am to be waiting for my pick-up shuttle!!!
