| - Had lunch over at Hanny's today and it was a rather pleasant experience. It is a great space, with a club-thing going on upstairs. I have had lunch here, cocktails in the evening, and late nite snacks. Most of the food is Italian themed from the apps, to the cocktails, to the beers.
Today I had the Porchetta sandwich, which was grilled pork, sopressetta, gooey cheese, onions and black olives (my new favorite thing) on ciabatta bread. Some fresh cantaloupe and cherry tomatoes as a garnish and fried onion strings on the side. It was delicious. Paired that with a beer (Italian's do few things WORSE than beer) and my lunch was $15-and-change. On the pricey side, but it was tasty.
Cocktail hour is the way to go though. $5 martini's and a whole host of other interesting/delicous cocktails they have are great (Absinthe anyone?). The late snacks are awesome. They do these little donuts with strawberry and chocolate sauce that are amazing!
Overall Hanny's is a really cool place to hang out if you're downtown, with a great atmosphere and fabulous cocktail menu. And, as it turns out, their food items are rather tasty as well.
