  • We stopped at this Dunkin to recharge on the way back from Red Rock Canyon as most members of our group wanted to use the opportunity to try it out as Dunkin is not easily accessible in LA. At around 3 pm. it was reasonably full with a small line at the counter. I got a hot medium dark roast ($1.85) without sugar and cream and of-course got a regular iced donut and chocolate iced chocolate cake donut (99c each). I always get coffee in Dunkin without sugar and add that externally as their sweet coffee is way too sweet. I remember most of my friends on the east coast would get it "light and sweet" which is actually dubbed "Indian style" in most Dunkin's that are run by my fellow countrymen. As expected the service was very fast and I had my coffee almost instantaneously. The coffee was just plain bad. To begin with it was not hot but at room temperature, next it did not have any aroma and finally it tasted bitter due to all the ground coffee sediment floating in it due to lack of proper filtration. The donuts were equally bad. The regular iced donut felt flat and the cake based donut was super dry and crumbly. Forget about Krispy Kreme, mom and pop donut shops would be able to churn out better donuts when compared to the ones I ate here. While sipping my terrible coffee I noticed that they had a special promotion going in which the medium dark roast was 99c between 2 and 4 pm. so as I had been charged full price I trooped back to the counter for a refund. I was offered another free donut instead which I did not want as I had already had two that I was not happy with earlier. Anyway I took them up on the free donut and got another random one which quickly joined the remaining "hot" coffee in the trash can. I feel Dunkin needs to get its act together. I have fond memories of Dunkin from when I was on the east coast but I've not had the same experience with the two Dunkin's that I have visited around Vegas. Their product line and price points are fine (about 5% less than Krispy Kreme and 20% more than mom and pop donut shops) but execution is lacking so I feel that they will not be able to survive long on nostalgia alone.
