| - This review reflects a visit on 7/16/17. I have struggled with whether or not to review this visit but as I still feel like I was assaulted and stolen from I decided to write.
My stylist, Katlyn, assaulted me and stole my hair.
I visited as a walk in to get my long hair cut. I wanted around 6 or 7 inches cut off. I was very clear that I wanted the finished length to be right around my collarbone. She asked if I had ever thought about donating, and I said yes but my hair wasn't long enough and also I dyed it. This was also when there were a lot of stories in the news about hair donation charities charging for their wigs. She tried to convince me otherwise. The reasons don't matter - I said I didn't want to donate my hair.
Katlyn gathered my hair and put it in a ponytail holder, then snipped above the hair tie and lay the bundle on her workstation "for easy cleanup later". It felt like she had cut it a little shorter than I wanted, maybe an inch or so. I would have been fine with that, and maybe it should have alarmed me but no red flags were immediately raised.
As she continued, I was faced away from the mirror. I was worrying but at this point there wasn't much I could do. By the time she finished, my hair was shorter than chin length, a good 6 inches or more shorter than I'd asked for.
My haircut looked good, which was the only saving grace. I did not want my hair short for many reasons. Yes, it will grow back, but I wanted it long for some upcoming events. As of today, only the longest bits of hair brush my shoulders. There is no part that touches my collarbone unless I pull it straight (slightly curly). This is after 4 months.
I tried to tell myself she was just a bad stylist, but I kept going back to the weird situation with the bundle of hair and how she tried to push me to donate. Someone also brought to my attention that I was given a discount on my bill - I have no logical answer for why, I've had my hair cut there before with no discount. My only conclusion was I got a discount for my "donation."
I will take blame for not getting up and walking out, but I am not confrontational and didn't know what to do. But I feel like keeping silent was an error and want to share my experience so no one else gets assaulted like this.
For anyone at the company who would like to look up this incident, it's ticket 6, store 443, 7/16/17.
