| - As a school, I would give this institute 0 stars. If you're thinking about going here as a student, please explore other options. I was so excited to start school here and was very disappointed as I slowly realized that the staff here doesn't care about the students for the most part and only take guests into consideration. We are your guests as well, paying 20k for a good education and you are hiring instructors with less than 2 years experience. It's sad how they won't come to bat for their students who have been attending the school for months, or years for some. Some if the instructors act very clique-y and don't give much praise from what I've seen, the only time they want to speak to you is to scold you for lunch breaks, practicing on eachother (which you aren't allowed to do, even when there are no guests), or having any fun really. I was disappointed in how little I learned and how much I had to depend on YouTube and other stylist friends to learn things that weren't taught thoroughly at school. From what I have heard, most of the students feel the same way, including at other cosmetology schools. So maybe it isn't exclusive to Aveda, but I just wanted to warn you. Also, you won't get experience with other color lines. The upside is that Aveda color is probably the most difficult to learn so you should have a decent foundation once learning other lines or haircolor.
