  • This post is to inform people of Home Depot's extended warranty plan from my experience. I purchased a Samsung large capacity refrigerator on 12/16/2014 from the Home Depot located at 861 S. Rainbow bl. Las Vegas, NV. My Home Depot extended warranty is valid until December 14, 2017. Approximately two years later, I 'm having problems with the Samsung ice maker. First repair service company to be sent out by my Home Depot extended warranty was on 04/28/2017. This repair service co. replaced the Samsung ICE MAKER MECHANISM. The replaced ice maker mechanism worked for about two weeks. Called Home Depot's home warranty again. A new appliance repair service was sent out on 05/31/2017. Repair person came out and did something to the ice maker. He said it would be producing ice in 24hrs. Didn't happen. So, again, I called Home Depot warranty service. Another repair service co. was sent to repair my ice maker on 06/01/2017. The repair person said he's going to order another Samsung ice maker mechanism. That repair person came back out with the new ice maker parts but couldn't remove some of the existing parts from the Samsung refrigerator. The repair person told me that I'd have to unplug the refrigerator for twenty four hours before he could install the new parts. Asked the repair service person where I would put all my food from the refrigerator. He didn't have an answer. Also, I asked who's going to pull my very large refrigerator out 24hrs before he comes back out. He couldn't answer me. I called Home Depot Warranty and they told me that they would send a loaner 4.3 cu. ft. Refrigerator. I told them that all my food wouldn't fit inside that loaner frig. The representative said to just put in for a food loss. After complaining to the Home Depot assistant store manager Matt at 861 s.rainbow bl. Las Vegas, Nv., he told me that the store manager would call me the next day. Of course, I received no call back and had to recall again. I finally made contact with Jeremy the store manager. I felt after speaking with him that he just gave me the run around. Jeremy told that he was going on leave of absence and Matt would call me back the same day or in the morning the next day. Well, he didn't call me back in the morning. I then called Home Depot warranty again and their representative/Derrick told me he had already sent a loaner refrigerator to Home Depot store on Rainbow. Derrick said to just keep the small refrigerator for all my troubles I've had with the ice maker issue. He set up another appointment for the 3rd/4th repair service to come back for fixing of my ice maker but it wouldn't be for several days because the parts had to be ordered again. Now, the repair service person/Ryan told that the parts would be held for three weeks approximately. It was only two days since he came to my house. Then about 1430hrs on 06/27/2017 Matt calls me finally. He tells me that I can pick up the loaner refrigerator. I told him I have already picked it up. He also told he hadn't called the repair service yet. I told him it's already be done. Point is Matt, in my opinion didn't take care of my issue with good intentions; he didn't care to take care of my issue rapidly. I've had many isuues and he knew that but didn't give a d... I 'm just another customer who is complaining. I feel this way about his efforts. Matt did tell me to call him when I needed the refrigerator pulled out to be unpluged; that he would send someone from the store to handle that. I would like to inform individuals to, in my judgement, NOT PURCHASE A HOME DEPOT PROTECTION EXTENDED WARRANTY. Buy the prouduct item extended warranty. One would more likely get better service from a product warranty. As I read the HOME DEPOT EXTENDED WARRANTY, it reads: after three service calls for the same problem, the unit will be either replaced or a full refund will be given the customer plus sales tax. Well, that hasn't happened and I did ask Home Depot extended warranty service to comply with thier own warranty. I was told NO WAY. After reading this consumers, make your own decision. If you think about buying HOME DEPOT EXTENDED WARRANTY, think twice. Dennis D.
